This is a PERSONAL test of the new Nvidia GTS chip.

I will not guarantee ANYTHING on this page :)

All tests is done on my own homebrew system, and therefore

you might see different results in your own PC .

Ok to the tests...EVERY test i have seen on this new chip is (as usual)

done in Quake and Unreal...Thats ok, but NOT for me :) What i REALLY

wanna know is how it performs in Descent3 !!!

Heres what i found out....

As you can see...No really big things going on there...

3DMARK2000 GeForce DDR

3DMARK2000 GeForce2 GTS

Thats more like it :) here you can clearely see an advantage to

"the new kid on the block" :)

Now for some Descent3 benchmarking...ONLY on GTS..

I tried the -Timetest command line option with the Secret2.dem file.

The line was :

-nointro -nomusic -framecap 0 -nosparkles -nonetwork -nosound -timetest secret2.dem

And the results :

153.75 Descent3 v1.3
105 Min
297 Max
150 Second 1
157 Second 2
179 Second 3
206 Second 4
163 Second 5
297 Second 6
218 Second 7
230 Second 8
168 Second 9
153 Second 10
120 Second 11
105 Second 12
126 Second 13
139 Second 14
152 Second 15
121 Second 16
127 Second 17
144 Second 18
118 Second 19
123 Second 20
123 Second 21
140 Second 22
132 Second 23

NOW we are talking....:)

Now for some screendumps...All made in Pyroglyphic using the GTS :

640X480

800x600

1024x768

1280x960

1600x1200

As you can see: until you hit 1600x1200 everything is ok. 90 fps in 1280x960

is VERY playable in singleplayermode. 1024x768 is ok for multiplayer, still got

140 fps in that resolution ...!

Ok thats about it.

IF i should say anything about it all it would be this:

The best thing about the GTS for Descent3players MUST be the fact that

the price on DDR`s will drop ! So if you need a new not so damn expensive

graphics card for playing Descent3, that would be my choise.

The new chip is like maybe 10-15 % faster IF you got a fast CPU, but thats it !

The price is (at least for me) Sky-High !!! So if you wanna buy now i will suggest

the DDR. What i have seen on the new Voodoos is NOT worth the cash, but i

will damn sure do a test on one of those babys when i get my hand on it :)
